My name is Ty Georgiou, though you might know me as ‘tysphotostash’. I am a people photographer based in Scarborough, serving the beautiful Yorkshire coast. My goal is to capture genuine moments that reveal humanity as its true self. People rarely act natural when posing for the camera, so I focus on candid photography. The majority of my photos are real individuals expressing authentic emotions and doing things all in their own unique way. My work is all about celebrating the real, unscripted stories of people.
Back to the roots.
I received my first camera at seven years old, back in 2014. It was a children’s camera, filled with games. Like any normal seven year old, I completely ignored the games to focus solely on taking photos... I would spend hours on the doorstep, photographing anyone or anything that caught my eye. Over a decade later, my passion for photographing people remains even stronger. Though now, thankfully, not with a children’s toy camera.
Why candid?
When I started to get serious about photography, I realised that I wanted to showcase humanity. I also noticed that people don’t like having their picture taken, but do like having pictures of themselves. The answer was right there, candid photography is what people need. From street and fashion to weddings and events, a candid approach just leads to far more natural photos. You could say that posing people takes a lot of skill, but I think that being alert enough to capture every moment without setting them up is worth far more.
What I do.
I love photography, people, style and music. Everything that I do links back to this. In short, I do street, portrait, wedding, event, music, business, product and fashion photography. You might think ‘man of all trades but master at none‘, but this is exactly why I call myself a ‘people photographer‘. I photograph people, it’s all I do, I love it, and I excel at it.
